Five Skills For HR Professionals

 By Govindan Ramu

There has been this craze on "Strategic HR" for years. Every HR conference seems to revolve around it or has at least a couple of sessions on this topic. Suddenly, even entry-level HR people were talking of strategic HR. However, I believe it is not the strategic aspects that these personnel and most HR people need. They need guidance on the skills for the real world - the operational day-to-day world. Yes, maybe we need to think strategy but that comes once we have mastered the operational level issues. For a good take-off, we need a good runway.

When HR personnel ask me what skills they should master. I tell them the following:

1. Transaction skills: Yes, HR is going to involve a lot of transactions - responding to employees on queries, preparing reports, organizing events, coordinating interviews, and so on. One needs to manage these transactions well. This requires skills for good planning, multi-tasking, prioritizing, and knowledge of tools, such as Microsoft office etc.

2. Responsiveness: HR personnel have to deal with a lot of internal customers. And, just as in any other relationship-building activity, the key is responsiveness. This involves getting back to people promptly, giving an honest opinion (politely), picking up the phone and talking when required (not always relying on emails and chats), and closing the loop.

3. Assertiveness: The expectations from HR personnel are always high as they are caught between the needs of employees and constraints of a business organization. It is difficult to satisfy everybody all the time. Maybe that should not even be considered a goal. The goal should be helping employees to manage their expectations and making organizations improve their people processes, within the constraints of business. However, more often HR personnel become frustrated because of over-sensitiveness to employee needs, indifference or helplessness.

By Obinna Mekah

Your personality can be influenced by how people relate, interact and behave towards you. This is more true when it comes to the matters of the heart, and the opposite sex. You can actually determine how people are attracted to you, but it requires some kind of mind programing that has been known [not by many though], to literally magnet or attract people of the opposite sex, especially based on how you feel about your self and what kind of picture you have inside of your mind about you.
It will be of great help here if we quickly run through seven tips that will help you to get that dream date and practically be in charge of your love life without having to delegate things that touch you emotionally to chance. Let's quickly have a good look at these.
Become calm, confidence and very optimistic about life.
Consciously build your personality charisma.
Determine the type of relationship or affection you desire and continually flood your mind with positive thoughts.
Overcome fear of failing in your next relationship and go ahead to bring to live, that inner feeling of true love you desire for your self.
Do not be manipulative, and have your body language state clearly that you would not want to be manipulated.
Do not follow any laid down rules when it comes to issues of your love life, rather program your mind to help you detect when your next suitor is real.

Motivation the Cure For Procrastination

By Victor Usifo

This fifteen letter long word has amongst many factors been the worst cause of mediocrity, indolence and lack of aspiration attributed to a lot of people in our planet.
This long word hinders many people from achieving anything worthwhile in this life. As a result of this setback, they are unable to archive meaningful objectives mainly because they refuse to take action.
They make it a habit to put things they ought to do immediately off, as long as they could hoping to tackle the job or assignment at a more favourable time in the future which of course, we all know never really comes.
So days turns into weeks, and weeks into months, and months into years but the person remains in the grip of this habit. This process continues until this habit forms in stone and becomes difficult to break.
The word gains a stranglehold on the neck of its captive, as it totally saps their will to act on anything meaningful. It then renders them incapable of initiating and completing any project no matter how easy the task my be.
